Hunter Star Sample

I am new to quilting (and sewing) - about 5 months. 

I ordered the Accuquilt Go Big! (LOVE IT). I am working with the Hunter Star Die. 

As you can see, my first Hunter Star sample made from scraps is far from perfect. My seams are not lining up on many blocks. However, that's on me and not the die. 

I am learning about cutting on the grain of fabric AND what happens when you don't iron the seams or do not iron the seams in the proper direction. All those errors are visible in this sample.

That being said, for a first-time Hunter Star newbie, I am impressed with myself.

I am open to tips, tricks, and suggestions.
